Short-run labels are for the people big label printers do not want to talk to: a candle maker testing a new scent, a hot-sauce brand with three flavors, a shop that needs fifty jars labeled for a market on Saturday. Ordering ten thousand of a label you will change in a month is how money ends up in a dumpster.

We print labels and simple packaging for small-batch products, retail, gifts and events, including the stickers and tags that go into convention swag bags. Tell us what the label is going on and we will tell you which stock will survive it.

Paper or waterproof

Paper labels are the cheapest, print beautifully and take a pen, which suits mailing labels and anything you date by hand. They smear and tear when they get wet.

Synthetic labels are a plastic film rather than paper. Anything that goes in a fridge, an ice bucket or a bathroom, or that meets oil or water, belongs on synthetic stock.

What to tell us

• What it goes on — glass, plastic, metal, kraft paper — and how curved it is
• The label size, or the container and where the label should sit
• Whether it will be chilled, frozen, wet or handled with oily hands
• Whether you apply them by hand or with a machine
• How many of each design, since every flavor or scent is its own version

Packaging in short runs

Hang tags, box sleeves, belly bands and header cards for bags are printed on cover stock, then cut, scored and punched here. They are a cheap way to make a plain box or bag look like it belongs to your brand, and easy to change for a season or a show.

Setting the file up

• Add 1/8" bleed and keep text at least 1/8" inside the cut
• Put a custom cut shape on its own layer, not merged into the artwork
• Keep small print at 6pt or larger so it stays legible
• Print barcodes at full size and test-scan the proof
• Ingredient and warning text is your responsibility — we print what you approve
